Stop At Burger King Nets 110 Lbs Of Pot

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A vehicle search in a Topeka Burger King parking lot netted authorities more than 100 pounds of marijuana.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies made the bust around 10: 30 am Monday outside the restaurant near SW 10th and Wanamaker. Authorities say they made contact with a white Chevy Lumina with an Arizona license place. A search of the vehicle turned up 110 pounds of marijuana.

Five people were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp. They're identified as:
Nicholas C. Taghipour, 26, of Easton, Maryland
Nicholas M. Verdusco, 18, of Tucson, Arizona
Cameron L. Gentry, 19, of Tucson, Arizona
Raymond S. Doyle, 20, of Easton, Maryland
Aaron P. Doyle, 27, of Laurel, Delaware

The Sheriff's Office says the Drug Enforcement Administration is assisting with the investigation.

It was the second large marijuana bust for the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office within a week. During a DUI saturation patrol early Saturday morning, two men from Phoenix, Arizona were arrested on charges they possessed more than 100 pounds of marijuana.
