Statehouse Briefly Evacuated After False Alarm

A false alarm sparked the evacuation the Capital Building Tuesday morning.

Just before 8 a.m., fire crews were called to the Statehouse on reports of a fire in the Senate Chambers. Shortly after, the Kansas Highway Patrol issued a statement saying the Statehouse was being evacuated due to a fire alarm.

At 8 o'clock, KHP issued another statement saying the alarm was due to a malfunction in the detector and that workers were allowed to return.
