JACKSON CO, Kan. (WIBW-TV) Local authorities are trying to figure out what happened to the occupants of a speeding car that crashed in Jackson County Wednesday night.
The Shawnee County Sheriff's office says that around 9:30 p.m. a deputy spotted a speeding car heading north in the 8800 block of Northwest Rochester Road.
A few minutes after the deputy turned to stop the vehicle, he found the car with nobody in or around it just north of northwest 94th Street and Rochester Road inside Jackson County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies, along with Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the search, but no one has been located.
