Southern Kansas Shaken By 3.9 Quake

CALDWELL, Kan. (KAKE)-- People in southern Kansas may have been awakened in the middle of the night early Monday, when a moderate earthquake erupted.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirms a 3.9 magnitude occurred at 3:03 a.m. It was centered 18 miles northwest of Caldwell, near the Harper-Sumner County line. Two comments left on the KAKE Facebook page indicated people felt the quake in Anthony.

There's no word of any damage from the earthquake. But it almost matched a 3.8 quake in the Caldwell area December 19, 2013. That one is under investigation by the Kansas Geological Survey.
