Chemicals Cause Explosions During Sunday Fire

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Soldier Township Fire crews responded to a blaze just before 9 p.m. Sunday night in the 6800 block of Northwest Elmont.

Crews battled the fire for over an hour. The blazed caused minor explosions due to chemicals or gas containers inside the building.

It also downed several power lines, causing Westar to shut off power to a local transformer.

No injuries were reported Sunday night.
