JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Junction City police say they discovered child pornography on a Fort Riley soldier’s computer.
Specialist Sean Vincent, 28, was arrested at his home on Sandpiper Court in Junction City Tuesday morning on five counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
Lieutenant Jeff Childs who oversees the Junction City Police Department’s Investigations Division says detectives received information in reference to sexually explicit material involving children being on Vincent’s home computer that led them to apply for a search warrant.
Lt. Childs says the detectives found evidence to arrest Vincent and the investigation is ongoing as analysis of the items seized from his house continues.
According to police, the soldier could face additional charges. As of Wednesday morning, Vincent remained confined in the Geary County Jail.
Major Martin O'Donnell, spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division, tells WIBW that Specialist Vincent joined the Army in 2003 and is assigned to the Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Riley, working as an aviation operations specialist. According to Major O'Donnell, Vincent was on leave and currently in the process of separating from the military at the time of his arrest. His departure from the Army is unrelated to the Junction City police probe, officials added.
"This is something we're certainly concerned about," Major O'Donnell said of the investigation into Vincent. "This sort of behavior is totally outside of the Army values that we abide by."
