TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Plumes of dark smoke poured from a tractor-trailer that stopped alongside Interstate 35 just north of Beto Junction early Tuesday afternoon.

A viewers sent us these shots of the smoke billowing from the semi shortly before 2:00 p.m. They were taken about a mile and a half east of the interchange.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the truck's driver was heading north on I-35 when he spotted the fire in the right front of his vehicle. He managed to pull it over before semi was fully engulfed.

They identified him as 64 year-old Hamim Mohammed. He was taken to Coffee Co. Hospital. Authorities didn't say anything about his condition.
