TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A long-awaited ribbon cutting took place Thursday.

A ceremony Thursday evening welcomed guests to the major addition to Ross Elementary School.

Topeka Public Schools broke ground on the project last October.

Ross Elementary is now connected to Eisenhower Middle School, creating a "Signature School" to combine grades K-8.

The school will broaden the educational experience and focus more on the arts -- such as orchestra and band.
