Police Release Name Of Victim In Suspected Carjacking, Shooting

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- Topeka Police say a shooting in east Topeka was the result of a carjacking gone wrong.

It all started at 11 Wednesday morning. Topeka Police officers rushed over to 2744 Southeast Gilmore Court.

Police say they found Rashad Kamen Halloway, 25, suffering with possible life threatening injuries. He was taken to Stormont Vail for treatment.

Officers say the victim has shot during a carjacking of his blue Ford Explorer. Police recovered the car from Highland Court and Gilmore.

Now, police are searching for the suspect. Police say the suspect is a bald black man about 5'10' and weighing about 175 pounds. He is wearing a dark brown shirt and khaki pants.

A KHP helicopter is assisting in the search for the suspect.
