(WIBW/Kansas City Star) - The owner of an ice cream chain is facing legal issues.
The Kansas City Star reports a franchise owner is suing Jim Sheridan, founder of the Sheridan's Frozen Custard chain, on claims Sheridan diverted money meant for the chain's advertising fund.
Ron Hendrix, who owns a Sheridan's franchise in Overland Park, alleges Sheridan instead used the money for a new restaurant and to make rent payments for an Omaha franchise. Seven other franchisees sent letters to Sheridan and two owners state Sheridan tried to get them out of their stake in the restaurant.
The Star reports Sheridan is willing to enter into mediation.
Topeka's franchise owners declined to comment if they were involved in the action.
