Release from Shawnee County
At 9:40 am, February 21, 2013, Commissioner Shelly Buhler signed a Proclamation of a Local Disaster Emergency on recommendation from Emergency Management Director Dave Sterbenz.
Heavy snowfall has impacted Shawnee County causing numerous problems for emergency responders and road crews.
Emergency measures were implemented earlier this morning by local Law Enforcement who currently are responding to emergency calls only.
The rate of snowfall is making it difficult to keep roads clear and many vehicles are becoming stuck causing roads to be impassable.
With this release, Emergency Management is once again requesting people stay off the roads.
