TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- There is a way to help those in the community who may not have the privilege of owning a winter coat this year.
Coats in good condition in all sizes can be donated at Scotch locations around Topeka for the 27th annual Scotch Share the Warmth campaign and coat drive.
Scotch will be collecting coats from October 21 through November 23 at any location:
134 SE Quincy St
2801 SE California Ave
2007 NW Topeka Blvd
Scotch will clean the coats and give them to the Salvation Army to distribute for those in need. The Salvation Army giveaway will be December 7.
The need for children's coats and larger adult sizes is always high.
Blankets will also be accepted.
The coat drive is active in Lawrence as well. Contact Thomas Shmalberg at 785-843-0639.
Volunteers are needed to assist the Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary in sorting out the coats prior to distribution, and as personal shoppers the day of distribution. To sign up, contact Major LeeAnn Burkett, (785) 233-9648, firstname.lastname@example.org.
