TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- It's hard to look past the upcoming snow in the forecast, but severe weather season will be here before you know it.
Governor Sam Brownback signed a proclamation Thursday morning making the week of March 3rd Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kansas.
The Governor was joined by WIBW Meteorologist Drew Switzer, and hopes this proclamation will urge Kansans to start preparing for springtime weather related emergencies.
An official from the Kansas Division of Emergency Management says that everyone should have a home emergency kit that includes everything each family member needs to survive for at least three days without power.
