TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Sentencing is set for one of the four people accused in a 2010 murder on the Topeka West High School campus. Coty Newman is scheduled to be sentenced on July 23, 2014.
Newman had been trying to withdraw his guilty plea, but Judge Evelyn Wilson ruled last week that he would not be able to do so.
Newman pleaded guilty to first degree murder and attempted second degree murder last March in the October 2010 shooting death of Matthew Mitchell and the wounding of another kid.
