OSAGE CITY, Kan. (WIBW)- A local high school had a special visitor today.
Senator Pat Roberts stopped by Osage City High School to discuss nutrition and other topics with government students.
Before his speech, he shared what he felt about President Obama's nomination of Chuck Hagel for the next defense secretary.
"I don't know whether he'll be approved or not by the Senate. There is a lot of concern with Chuck. My advice to him would have been not to offer up a name. And that's tough for me because I know him. He's my personal friend, but I don't think he's well suited for that position," said Senator Roberts.
Senator Roberts is among several Republicans who do not support Hagel's nomination.
