10th Street Now Open After Semi Stikes Pole And Drives Off

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Topeka Police say 10th Street is open as of 10 a.m. Saturday.

Topeka Police say Friday night a semi truck struck a power pole which caused damages and shut down Topeka streets.

At 9 Friday night, the Topeka Police Department responded to a hit and run accident at 10th and Southwest Fillmore.

Police say a semi tractor trailer struck a guide wire to a power pole. The driver was attempting to make a u-turn and allegedly drove off.

This caused damage to several poles in west alley of Fillmore Street, with poles and wires hanging over the Mater Dei Catholic School.

Westar Energy says about 12 customers were without power Friday night.

Police say Clay and Fillmore street will be shut down for safety reasons until early afternoon Saturday.
