TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Did you know about 15 million people in the United States have their identities stolen each year? Saturday was dedicated to fighting fraud and bringing those numbers down.

The Better Business Bureau brought out trucks and garbage bins to the west parking lot at the Kansas Judicial Center for a shredding event.

People could drop off as many papers, documents, cards, and CDs as they wanted to be safely shredded and discarded by Jayhawk File Express.

The event was free to the public and the Better Business Bureau handed out valuable information about securing your identity and how to prevent identity theft.
