TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW) Former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius is said to be eyeing a possible Senate run.

The New York Times is reporting that the outgoing Health and Human Services Secretary is considering a challenge to Republican Pat Roberts.

Sebelius stepped down from her cabinet position last week after overseeing the rocky start of President Obama's Affordable Care Act

Friends told the Times the difficulty of the past few months make them doubt she'll actually jump in.

Roberts, seeking his 4th term, faces Milton Wolf in the GOP primary.

Shawnee County DA Chad Taylor already is running for the Democrats.

In response to the news, Kansas Republican Party Chair Kelly Arnold released a statement saying, "We will pay her bus fare."

Kansas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1939.
