Search For New Liberal Arts Dean At ESU Draws Closer

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- The search is coming to a close for a new Dean of Liberal Arts at Emporia State University.

Members of the search committee have narrowed their search to three finalists.

Two are current faculty members at ESU and the third is a professor from New York.

Kathy Ermler, Dean of the Graduate School at ESU, says the Liberal Arts Department is particularly important because of its ties to its undergraduates.

"Other than the experience, we're looking at some of innovations that they could bring to the liberal arts and sciences. Some of the new programs some of the cutting edge programs. So we looked a lot on that and we also looked at fund raising, if they could go out and make partnerships in the community," Ermler.

The provost and president should make the decision sometime this week.
