A Topeka-area school district will partner with Shawnee County to spruce up a round-about.
Shawnee County commissioners this week approved an agreement with the Auburn-Washburn school district. USD 437 says the roundabout at SW 53rd and Wanamaker Rd. is a main entrance for the district's administrative building, so they have an interest in making it look nice for prospective teachers or others who might be coming for meetings.
Under the agreement, the district will maintain the round-about's vegetation during the school year. They plan to include the jobs in the school curriculum.
