Salina Quilter Portrays A Famous 1930 Quilter At Fairlawn Plaza

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-People gathered at Fairlawn Plaza, Sunday, to watch a performance called " A Rose by Any Other Name."

The audience watched as Salina quilter and historic performer, Debbie Divine, portrayed national acclaimed quilter, Rose Kretsinger who passed away in 1963.

Kretsinger, who was in the National Quilters Hall of Fame was a talented quilter in Emporia back in the 1930's.

"I think it's wonderful to have these kind of events and that's one of the things that we really attempt to do here. We really like to have educational and informative events and those sort of things go on," said Fabric Corner owner, Colleen Janssen.

Divine says she views Kertsinger as a role model and recreates some of Kretsinger’s quilts as often as she can.
