SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A man has died after jumping off a roadway bridge in Salina.
Lt. Gerald Shaft, with the Salina Police Department, says a driver saw a man standing on the Broadway viaduct Friday morning. When the motorist looked back, the man was gone.
The Salina Journal reports (http://bit.ly/19HXenE ) Shaft says the driver turned his vehicle around, stopped and saw the man lying on the ground below the bridge with a rope around his neck. Shaft says the rope was too long, stretched or became detached from the bridge and the man hit the dirt road below.
Lt. Scott Siemsen says the man died from his injuries after being taken to a local hospital. His name was not released.
