ROSSVILLE, Kan. (WIBW) -- Rossville looked like a scene from Hollywood Sunday, as residents came out to star in an upcoming baseball documentary.
At 11 a.m. Sunday DHTV Digital recorded a movie at the Joe Campbell Memorial baseball stadium, called “Town Teams: More than Baseball”.
The documentary is about a team that played in 1919 in rural Kansas.
“We’re really just trying to give a little honor and love to those players from the state of Kansas, that really started the game in this state,” said Director Mark Honer.
Extras were asked to come dressed in clothing that was typically worn in the early 1900s.
“Baseball in the early 1900s was the social media of that time. It was the way that people connected. It was the way that people got excited and where they gathered at the end of the week,” said Honer.
The documentary is set to air next Spring, right before the beginning of baseball season.
