TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- The Topeka and Shawnee County Riverfront Authority held a meeting to discuss the condition of the Kansas River.
The meeting agenda addressed the safety of the Kaw River Weir, which has been a topic of discussion due to its involvement in numerous accidents.
The Authority is waiting on federal funding for repairs and is considering an almost two million dollar repair plan.
Their goal is to make the river a safer place for the community and proposed a "Youth Day on the Kaw" to encourage recreational use of the Kansas River.
