(WIBW) - Heavy rains across the area Monday afternoon into the nighttime hours had area authorities keeping an eye on rising waters. Two to four inches of rain was widespread around the area, with up to three inches more expected before sunrise Tuesday.
Riley County Police said late Monday that Blue River Hills Road and Stockdale Park Road both were flooded. Emergency Management also was keeping an eye on rapidly rising waters in the Wildcat Creek area.
In Shawnee County, Westar Energy reported 838 customers without power as of 10:40 pm Monday. A spokesperson said crews were out working to locate the cause of the outages. Another 258 customers were out in Pottawatomie County.
The National Weather Service had issued a Flash Flood Warning for Douglas, Franklin, Jefferson, Osage and Shawnee Counties until 4:15am Tuesday. The same warning applies to Riley and Pottawatomie counties until 2 am Tuesday, and Geary, Morris and Wabaunsee counties until 3:15 am Tuesday.
