Reward Offered For Suspect Accused Of Shooting Deputy

(KAKE)-- The search is ongoing for the man accused of shooting a Butler County sheriff's deputy earlier this week, and now a reward is being offered in connection to the case.

Several agencies have been searching for 41-year-old Jan Tracy Kilbourne after he allegedly shot the deputy during a traffic stop near U.S. 54 between Santa Fe Lake Road and Indianola Road early Monday morning. Officers spent several hours searching for him, but he was never located.

Kilbourne may have also been wounded in the shooting.

Yesterday, approximately 40 officers from multiple agencies spent nearly 15 hours searching for a burglary suspect near Udall, and investigators believe it may have been Kilbourne.

Trackers have returned to the area today to search for clues.

The Butler County Sheriff's is now offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Deputies are also in Liberal today following up on leads, where Kilbourne violated his probation.

The wounded deputy has since been treated and released. He is reportedly doing well and on administrative leave with pay.
