Armed Property Owner Thwarts Break-In

TOPEKA, Kan Two people are in custody Tuesday morning following a break-in and shooting at a vacant Topeka business.

Officers were called to the the El Centinela building, which is just south of 21st street on Belle around 1:10 a.m. after the property owner, identified as Kent Lindemuth, told police that two people had broken into the building.

Officials say Lindemuth fired one shot at one of the suspects as they ran towards the back of the building.

Both suspects were later taken into custody by police.

Authorities have released the name and photo of one of the alleged burglars, identified as 36 year old Matthew Schuetz.

Schuetz is facing charges of aggravated burglary, attempted theft and criminal damage. The investigation continues. If you have any information regarding the incident please contact crime stoppers at 234-0007.
