GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina/CNN) Deputies said a man walked into a Greenville restaurant in an attempt to rob the place, but instead an employee turned a gun on him. And now, employees are talking about the startling event.
Employees at Wings on the Run said it all happened within seconds.
"Just looked up and there's this masked person with a gun in my face," Stephanie Evans said.
She's the co-owner of the restaurant located on East North Street in Greenville County.
"He just simply said 'give me what you, give me all of it,'" Evans said.
She's a survivor of an attempted armed robbery.
"But before I could give him anything, I heard a gunshot and I actually thought it was me, and I just dropped to the floor," Evans said.
But those gunshots came from Antwain Motin, another employee at the restaurant.
"He kind of took his eyes off me for like two seconds and I was able to run to the back," Motin said.
"After I shot him, he kind of shimmied a little bit like he was falling or whatever and took off," Motin said. "I was thinking about her protection as well as my protection."
Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said the man behind the mask is Calvin Benson. They later found him at a hospital in Spartanburg where they said he tried to get help for those gunshot wounds.
"If you want something, work for it. If you don't have and you need - it's better to ask and I'll be happy to give what I have than for somebody to stick a gun to my face," Evans said.
Benson is charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
