TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Red Cross hosted its annual Martin Luther King Junior day of caring Monday.
The organization teamed up with the Topeka Fire Department for a day of volunteering to increase fire prevention and awareness around the city.
Volunteers visited high risk neighborhoods and hung educational information on people's doors.
The City of Topeka now has a grant application to provide new smoke alarms and batteries for residents. For more on the program, call 368-4000.
