TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A recent survey by the Kansas State Department of Education finds motorists continue to pass stopped school buses.
Kansas was 1 of 29 states to participate in a one-day survey of school bus drivers.
Drivers were asked to report the number of times motorists passed school buses.
Ninety-seven-thousand bus drivers in 29 states reported a combined total of more than 75,000 motorists illegally passing school buses in a single day.
In Kansas, more than 2,000 school bus drivers reported it happened more than 7,000 times.
Under Kansas law, you face a $315 fine plus court costs, if you disregard a school bus sign.
