TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__It was round two for Topeka police and fire to pitch proposals for the 2014 budget.

The Topeka budget committee met with Police Chief Ron Miller and Fire Chief Greg Bailey as a follow up to their July 1st meeting.

With Topeka in a projected 5 and a half million dollar hole, significant cuts have been proposed to both fire and police departments.

Police Chief Ron Miller feels a new E-ticketing system could save time and money.

He said, "The whole process makes it quicker in the field, less inconvenient for the citizen and speeds processing time for entering computer systems in both police department and the municipal court."

Chief Miller estimates the E-ticketing system to cost around $300,000.

The budget committee has until August 25th to file the final 2014 budget to the City Clerk.
