Public Invited To Meet Police Chief Finalists

Six officers received promotions at the TPD's quarterly crime strategy briefing

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The public is invited to attend a public reception to meet the final candidates for Topeka’s Chief of Police, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 7th, in the Holliday Conference Room, 620 SE Madison.

The reception will provide an opportunity for all to interact with and get to know finalists Tony Kirk and James Brown.

Kirk currently serves as Interim Chief of Police for the Topeka Police Department where he’s served since 1987.

Brown serves as Assistant Chief of Police of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, where he’s served since 1991.

Police Chief Ron Miller’s last day in office was July 30. Miller was nominated in March by President Barack Obama to serve as U.S. Marshal for Kansas. His farewell reception will run from 12 to 3 p.m., August 8th, at Heritage Hall at the Expocentre.
