TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)__Christ The King Early Education Center held an art show and auction in hopes to raise money for one special preschooler.

Aiden Burkhart who attends half-day preschool at CTK EEC, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma.

His mother Jill told 13 News that they found a tumor on Aiden's hip and were sent to Children's Mercy Hospital where he was diagnosed. Luckily they caught the disease in time and it had not spread to his bone marrow or other parts of his body.

Aiden is currently undergoing chemotherapy every other week for 12 weeks. Jill says once he has completed the 12 weeks, doctors will rescan for cancer and possibly perform surgery or radiation followed by another bout of chemotherapy for 22 weeks.

"He's handling it pretty good. He has a few rough days but for the most part he still keeps smiling and he's up playing the Wii." His mother shared about Aiden.

All the art displayed and up for bid was created by students ranging from preschool to 8th grade.

The family does not currently have a donation account set up, but plans to get one started soon.
