TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__More community help for an in need Topeka neighborhood is on the way, plus brand new L.E.D. sign rules are a step closer, after action at Monday night's Topeka Planning Commission meeting.
Planning Commission board members voted unanimously to
recommend approval of additional staffers from the Community Resources Council and the Topeka Rescue Mission's NET Reach program to move into Avondale East Elementary in attempt to provide more resources to the Hi-Crest area residents.
They also moved to recommend the governing body adopt new regulations on size, brightness and frequency of L.E.D. signs in Topeka. Planning Director Bill Fiander says it's actually a safety measure to decrease distracted driving.
The planning commission also approved necessary zoning changes for a new Jimmy Johns at 21st and Gage.
