Political Watchers Braved The Rain To Hear Lawmakers Craft New Bills

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Political watchers braved the rain to hear how Kansas lawmakers craft and pass new bills.

The Topeka- Shawnee County League Of Women Voters welcomed former state Representative Ann Mah and current state Senator Vicki Schmidt.

The lawmakers gave the audience a one-hour political lesson, on the mechanics of how new measures are passed.

Maryanna Quilty, President of League of Women Voters of Topeka and Shawnee County stated, "It's important for the community we try to educate voters about the legislation and laws that impact them and believe in an enformed citizenry encourage people to register and to vote."

The League is non-partisan and welcomes all voters to their Tuesday topic programs, held the first Tuesday of each month.
