Topeka Police Officer Injured In Motorcycle Crash Identified

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- The Topeka Police officer injured in the motorcycle accident Sunday morning has been identified as Officer Kevin Schulz.

Around 9:30 Sunday night, Shawnee County Sheriff deputies responded to an injury accident in the 2300 block of SE Wanamaker Road.

The motorcycle was traveling north on SW Wanamaker road and a Chevy Malibu was traveling south.

Police say the driver of the Malibu turned left in front of the motorcycle attempting to go east. The motorcycle struck the car head on, ejecting the police officer from the motorcycle.

The officer on the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. He has since been released.

Officials say the driver of the Malibu, 28 year-old Amanda Ramos, refused medical treatment, there was no impairment and nobody was cited.
