Police Investigating Two Cases Of Cuttings, Assaults

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka police are investigating two separate assaults that put four men in the hospital overnight.

Shawnee County Dispatch told 13 News around 11:49 p.m. Tuesday night they received a call from a woman saying she was driving two people to the hospital who had been shot.

When officers arrived to the hospital, it was determined the two had not been shot, but assaulted. It is uncertain if they had been cut.

Dispatch said the assault happened in an alley in the 2800 Block of Southeast Minnesota and Southeast Wisconsin. The actual location of the assault was listed as 2817 SE Minnesota.

The suspect is described as a white male with a shaved head wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans standing 5'11" weighing 160 pounds.

Officers arrived at the hospital to find a male victim with non-life threatening stab wounds and a second victim with a non life-threatening head wound.


In a separate incident, just after midnight, officers again responded to Stormont Vail on a report of a cutting.

Lt. John Sturgeon told 13 News officers found two men in their 20s who said they were cut in a parking lot fight in the 4100 Block of Southwest Huntoon around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Mark Schonlaw, the Owner of Skinny's Sports Bar & Grill, told 13 News his establishment was closed at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night. Schonlaw said police officials knocked on his door to ask about the incident and determined the individuals were not in his establishment.

Both men were treated at the hospital and released.

Authorities describe the suspects as two black males, one of them at 6'2" weighing 200 pounds with his hair in cornrows.
