Topeka, KAN. (WIBW)--Feather hair extensions are a relatively new trend and they're popular at Tallgrass Medical Center. 33 of the Tallgrass Surgical Center staff are putting in a hot-pink feather, with a purpose. That purpose is to help find a cure for breast cancer. The 19th Street Salon and Spa stopped by Tallgrass to weave in feather hair extensions, to kick off their upcoming fundraising efforts for breast cancer. RN Micheala Rapp shared she'll wear her new pink hair additionat least for all of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Be involved through walks or donations. For females, early mammograms, seeing physicians for for follow up, and the family practitioner. And ask questions if something is questionable to you in your health. It's being your own advocate,” said Rapp.

Tallgrass has a registered team for the second year in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 23rd. They are also involved in the upcoming walk at Washburn University this coming Saturday.
