TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A bird infestation in Holliday Park is leaving some residents annoyed.

For more than a month, residents tell us hundreds of European starlings have been roosting in the trees.

The birds are known to carry several human and pet illnesses and are leaving droppings all over the park -- not to mention the noise is causing quite a disturbance.

"the noise is deafening and it persists all night," said resident Brendan Beyer. "We've managed to get half the block cleared so we had a little better sleep last night and I hope that my neighbor can help me out a little bit and make some noise if they do decide to come back."

Beyer says the birds fly in large groups just before dusk and just after dawn.
