TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - For the fifth year in a row, Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Crematory & Cemetery is pleased to again donate 850 5- to 6-foot white pine Christmas trees to area families in need this holiday season.

Quantities are limited and families are encouraged to call (785) 295-9782 today to reserve a tree. Trees will be available for pick-up at the Sixth Street entrance to the Cemetery at Sixth and Gage on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. Penwell-Gabel staff will be on hand with supplies to help secure trees for the ride home. Santa will also be there handing out candy canes for the kids.

"Having a Christmas tree is an important part of celebrating the holiday season for many people, especially children," said Ren Newcomer, owner of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Crematory & Cemetery. "We hope the trees will provide joy during the holiday season to families who might not otherwise be able to afford a Christmas tree."
