TOPEKA – The Shawnee County Parks and Recreation department outlined its budget requests to the County Commission Wednesday.
Director John Knight asked commissioners for $17.2 million to cover costs through 2014.
The department was granted a budget of $15 million in 2012.
Knight says the additional funds are needed to compensate for the consolidation of the Building and Maintenance department under Parks and Rec that took place in 2012.
