Overturned Semi Spills Corn, Blocks Highway

ROSSVILLE, Kan. (WIBW)-- The Kansas Department of Transportation closed part of east and westbound U.S. 24 around 9:15 Tuesday morning because a semi overturned about a half-mile west of Rossville, spilling loose corn across the road.

KDOT reports the semi driver was not hurt. Crews closed the road while they lifted the semi upright and then cleaned the corn off the road.

Traffic is being detoured down 54th Street to Maple Hill Road. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes if at all possible. KDOT anticipated reopening the highway at approximately 11:15 a.m.
