Overnight Fire Damages Manhattan House

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW-TV)-- Manhattan Fire Crews battled their second structure fire in as many days early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to 831 Colorado just before 11:30 p.m. Monday on reports of a structure fire.

When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the rear portion of the single-story home.

Officials say the fire was contained within 20 minutes, but crews remained on the scene well into the night to putting out hot spots and performing overhaul.

The garage portion of the home appeared to have sustained the most damage.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. The amount of damage caused by the fire has not been released.

Ben and Ralph Nyberg are listed as the homeowners.
