Overnight Shooting Sends Man To Jail On Multiple Charges

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- One man is behind bars after an overnight shooting on Saturday.

Around 1:15 a.m. officers responded to the area of Huntoon and Gage to investigate gunshot reports.

Witnesses in the area told police a white Buick was seen leaving the area. Officers stopped the vehicle a short time later and arrested the driver, 28-year-old Damien Sean Arterberry-Riley.

Before the police responded to the area, a Topeka man in his 30's had been taken by private vehicle to an area hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers learned the two incidents were related and the shooting had occurred in the 4100 block of Southwest Huntoon.

Arterberry-Riley was booked into the Shawnee County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal discharge of a firearm.
