Topeka Murder Victim Died Hours After Her Wedding

The Wichita woman shot and killed in Topeka over the weekend died just hours after her wedding. Tiffany Davenport-Ray returned to the Capital City to get married on Saturday.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Wichita woman shot and killed in Topeka over the weekend died just hours after her wedding. Tiffany Davenport-Ray returned to the Capital City to get married on Saturday.

The 42 year-old newlywed was shot in the 1900 block of Kansas Ave. around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

It was Topeka's first murder of 2014.

The man accused of killing her, Awnterio Lowery, made his first appearance in court on Tuesday. He has been charged with First Degree Murder, Criminal Discharge of a Weapon, Distributing Drugs, and Aggravated Assault, which are all felonies.

His bond was set at $1 million and he will return to court on September 3.
