TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) Authorities believe an apartment fire in east Topeka was intentionally set.
Fire crews responded to the fire call to 3024 Southeast Swygart around 11 p.m. Sunday (2/17). There, crews found the source of the fire coming from inside the kitchen of apartment D. It was contained within the apartment and put out.
A preliminary investigation by fire officials suggests the fire was intentionally set in the kitchen.
The loss is estimated at $15,000; $14,000 of that is structure loss, the remaining $1,000 in content loss.
Three engine companies and two truck companies responded to the alarm, along with one battalion chief, one shift commander, one safety officer and a fire investigator.
