TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Organizers of the 46th Annual Community Thanksgiving dinner say they need the community's help before it kicks off this week.
"We believe it is our mission to serve and that no one should dine alone, and we need this food to have enough meal available," says volunteer, Dwight Menke.
Preparations for the big event got underway Monday at the Kansas Expocentre's Ag Hall.
They still need donations of food items and ask you to bring them directly to Ag Hall.
They expect to serve about one thousand people from noon to three on Thanksgiving day and make about 150 meal deliveries.
To request a meal delivery, you must call - 785-270-5599 before 5 p.m. Tuesday. UPDATE: According to a message when you call, Community Thanksgiving is no longer accepting delivery requests.
If you can help out with donation, organizers say they need:
Instant potatoes, green beans, canned chicken broth, stove-top dressing, canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, dry brown gravy mix, canned evaporated milk, 25 pounds of white sugar and 25 pounds of brown sugar, corn starch and 55 pounds of flour.
