Organizers Hope To Put A Brake To Teen Car Crashes

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Recent reports say more than 5,000 teens are involved in fatal crashes each year. That's why a local foundation is finding a way to put "brake" to it.

The Tire Rack Street Survival non-profit foundation hosted a teen driver safety class at Heartland Park Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Students received a short classroom session before going behind the wheel of their own cars for some hands on experience to learn how to manage everyday driving hazards, obstacles and challenges in a controlled environment.

Students learn emergency braking, skid control and how to manage blind spots as well.
