Suspect, Victim Identified In Shawnee Co. Shooting

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The search for the suspect in a Thursday afternoon shooting south of Topeka is moving on.

Authorities called off the active search around SW 61st and Burlingame after searching the area for several hours, but they believe they know who they are looking for.

Twenty-four year-old Antoine Tyrone Marks Sr. is described as a black male, about 6'3", weighing 175 pounds. Officers say he is armed with a handgun.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's office says marks was behind a shooting just before two yesterday afternoon.. at a trailer park near 61st and Burlingame.

The victim, 19-year-old Corey Mason was shot in the leg. He is currently being treated at a local hospital. Mason also has an outstanding warrant in Shawnee County for probation violation, authorities say he and Marks knew each other.

Burlingame Road near 57th was closed most of the afternoon while authorities looked for marks.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's office, Topeka Police and Kansas Highway Patrol were all involved in the search.

They called it off around five p.m. yesterday afternoon. Authorities say a white Lincoln Navigator seen leaving the shooting scene with a man and woman inside was located.

Authorities found the man and woman and took them in for questioning.
