Victim In Deadly Highway 75 Wreck Identified

One person is dead after a car wreck on Highway 75 early Saturday morning.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- The woman killed in a Saturday morning car wreck on Highway 75 has been identified as Desiree Rias, 59, of Topeka.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's office told 13 News around 1:20 Saturday morning, two cars collided at the 2900 block of North 75 Highway.

According to officials, a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by John J. Tumino, 40 of Leavenworth KS and a 2003 Chevrolet Impala Dwayne E. Wilkes, 54 of Topeka were traveling southbound on NW 75 Highway.

Police say for an unknown reason the vehicles collided causing the Impala to lose control and travel into the west ditch where it struck several trees.

Wilkes and two other passengers in the Impala, Zellron R. Porter, 35 and James F. Morris, both of Topeka were transported to a local hospital with what were described as "non-life-threatening" injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
